I am proud of you! Wow. You stood up for yourself against your parents and their man made up religion.
That is no little fete!
i wasn't entirely sure what to expect when i made the decision to tell my parents how i really feel, but i was prepared for the worst, fortunately, it didn't come to that.
after i told them i didn't want to go to the meetings anymore it led to a long talk with them.
they made a number of irksome and woefully uninformed statements but at least they were not aggressive and have said that they won't force me to move out over this, though, i can tell they are hoping they can convince me to "accept the truth," as long as i still live with them.
I am proud of you! Wow. You stood up for yourself against your parents and their man made up religion.
That is no little fete!
cowtown ain’t.
in which i tell you about my hometown, ft. worth, texas.
question: “what do you call mexican food down in guadalajara?”.
@Jake. Wow! So through your great great grandfather you qualify to be a member of The First Families of Texas! I have never known of anyone of that Lineage. I have not personally known of any of The Three Hundred Colonists. And your great great grandfather was a Captain ( and Commandant) of the Texas Rangers. Wow! And had a successful mill. And... And... And... Wow!
Thank you so much for sharing some of your family's historical roots in Texas. Very impressive.
Do you know if the house your great great grandfather built and sold to Stephen F. Austin is still standing?
And then he managed to sire 22 children. Oh wow.
Do you know many of your cousins? At your family reunions you must have hundreds show up.
there seems to be a number of different ways that apostates try to get jehovah's witnesses realise they do not have the truth, ranging from subtle comments to aggressive attacks.
do you have any that looking back helped you finally leave.
some of the methods include:.
I had a dear friend I grew up with, leave The Lie. He was third generation Bethelite. Like wow! How could he be so theocratic and leave? He left The Lie a few years after marrying. For decades I thought he must have gotten involved in swinging, you know, sex orgies and such. It never crossed my mind that he would have left because he found out his grandfather's religion was all a con, rules and doctrines dictated by narcissistic men, lording in over the flock.
After I read CofC I looked up and found my old friends phone number and called. I said to him in all sincerity, ___, why didn't you tell me this religion was all fake? I don't think he said anything. I actually was in shock after not talking to him since 1969 at a convention. I think I said that if I had known it was all made up non sense, and he was the one that said it, and told me it was all garbage, I would have believed him, and it would have changed my whole life.
What an unintended heavy responsibility I put on his shoulders. He had no responsibility to tell me, to give me the key to unlock the JW..org prison door so I could escape. I am sorry ___ if I sounded hurt. There is no turning the clock back, should of, could of, would of. No. All of us can only go forward with the knowledge we have available to each of us now.
No. No apostate influenced me.
Too many strutting their stuff Elders, said and did too many things to me when seperating from my abusive Elder husband. Pray more. Be a better wife. Go out in service more. Read your Bible more. The final cop out, leave it in Jehovah's hands and stay together. What???
The most educated (of course, not a JDub) and highly respected man I knew had told me a few years before when I was trying to preach to him... Didn't I know about the cave drawings in France that are over 17,000 years old? Noooo. You should look it up. So I did. Oh oh. I had been trying to tell him about mankind being just over 6,000 years old... and about the creative days, (because that is what those GB high school idiots told me and being a good little zombie that learned through 5 meetings a week to parrot out, back, what was said to me... ) He, and many others, must have taken me for a bloomin' idiot too!
I would still shy away from those ones who are shouting out or picketing at District Conventions. I don't listen to... religious fanatics anymore.

When JW..org says they are unable to protect the abused children because of the archaic 2 person rule, any normal person can see right through this. They will see that JW..org wants to continue to hide pedophiles among their ranks. What will JW..org receive from this type of acknowledgement and publicity? Not more adherents. No one (normal) will want to join a church that actively protects pedophiles. Maybe JW..org wants to be known as the World Wide Church of Pedophiles. I am sure they have money in their pants pocket too to fleece. And JW..org is all about the money. Not integrity. Not truthfulness. You who still go, should questioningly look at the new people coming into these "sacred houses for worship". Are they there for the children or to serve JW..org? Yikes!
In the 'field' whether going door to door or 'manning' a cart, what type of person will WT publications attract? Pedophiles? Will normal understandably upset people, speak out against JW's that their religious leaders do not protect their children? Any normal person can see that JW..org stance on this is skewered. Will the back lash on this be, oh my, persecution??? Will they start receiving hateful comments from passersby? "You protect pedophiles! Shame on you!" Thus... they will receive... persecution. Possibly, maybe, that is exactly what Jw..org wants!
with tattoos becoming ever more popular in today's culture, i couldn't help but wonder what happens when people with ostentatious tattoos seek baptism?
are they admitted?
many don't have the money to have them removed, yet i can't imagine they'd be allowed to do pioneer work.
The requirement in our area, 10 years ago from our circuit/district overseer (can't remember which) was so many young pioneer sisters had tattoos on their feet or ankles, that they were asked when used on the assembly program to please put a bandaid on it. We wouldn't want to stumble anyone, would we???
It all depends where you live...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go3arnnsfkk&feature=youtu.be.
no mention whatsoever that it was watchtower themselves that strongly hinted towards this date.
instead they blame those who "put their trust in a date, not jehovah".. let's recap... .
Half a century ago, doesn't seem so long ago to me. The late 1960's, if you were not pioneering, you were considered to be not a very spiritual person (by WT standards).
We were told we had to attend all 5 meetings per week. Just as we needed all 5 fingers of our hand, we needed these soul sucking, mind controlled meetings (leave your brains at the door). Do not question. Do not go to college. Really even trade school was not encouraged. You basically had to be a regular pioneer at 100 hours per month or 1200 per year or the lesser vacation pioneering at "only" 75 hours per month or you were looked down on. It was really bad if you got married and started popping out kids.
Selling WT's little blue book for 25 cents, called The Truth book, garnered many home Bible studies with lonely, naive, humble people. The Vietnam War was on. People had moved around, were in new neighborhoods and didn't know anyone. Go to the Kingdom Hall and get love bombed. Many took the bait. Many were baptized. They were told they would never die??? And millions of people believe that??? OK. Where do I sign up???
Because we were told the end was nigh, many JDubs did reckless things, like sell their home to "go pioneering". Some took out their retirement savings from work and went on some great vacations. Many people figured out how much money they would need until the end of '75. Their lives in the years that followed were not nice. A lot of poverty. Because many ended up poor, and maybe did not hand out any green handshakes, they no longer were invited on stage at their circuit assemblys because as the years, decades rolled by, their endurance was mixed with disenchantment and discouragement and even dispair. Those who had not given their "all" to god before 1975, now had time and money to build a new house, buy a new car, go on yearly vacations. The Truth book and holding Bible studies for no more than 6 months became old light. The all important 5 meetings a week became no more. Going door to door with Bible in hand to give a good "witness" it too became passe.
We were brow beaten. Little children that should have been home asleep ready for school the next day, were dressed like little adults giving talks. We all had to do cold calling on our neighbors and class mates. There was no easy time, No lazying about drinking coffee manning a cart. We had 3 scripture sermons we gave at the door. When the 25 cent Truth book came out we were encourages to show a pretty picture read a scripture from the book, oh give it to the house holder to hold first and then make a quick sale. For WT it was al about sales. Not content.
No one told us that Fred Franz was an egotistical maniac that was also a narcissist. That he was pulling his ideas straight out of his butt. Nathan Knorr loved his high position managing the WT. Being president of a publishing and real estate and investment firm and living in style. Flying first class. Waiters at every meal. Being chauffeured about. Having people adore him. No children. No mortage that he had to worry about. If you are in charge of a religion you don't pay taxes so April 15th was no sweat for him. Nathan's daddy was only the manager of 2 theatres and the family rented for many years. Nathan never went to college and look how far he went swindling people out of their lives and savings all in the name of that great money maker called... religion.
And now in 2017 after WT aka JW..org ruined millions of lives, now they are rewriting WT history.
I am speechless. The Governing Body have to be atheists. The Bible says that God does not like liars. The GB can't have it both ways. Say they are The Truth and lie, lie, lie. They sound more like psychopaths. Psychopaths lie all the time and it does not affect them in the least. They have no conscience.
greetings, word lovers:.
in my job, i work with words and wrangle them into shape, well, in a manner of speaking.
one word might be mistaken for another, a word with either a similar or identical sound.

may 15, 2017 to all bodies of elders re: regular pioneers.
uk version.
840 hours per year X $15.00 per hour = $12,600's per one year.
That means in 10 years you would have made yourself $126,000.00
Nice nest egg, down payment for a house or in some places will pay for a whole house or apartment.
Normal people look out for themselves and their family and loved ones first. Only dysfunctional people need other people's approval with a "Look at me. I'm special. I am a pioneer..."
Then when it comes time for their old age and retirement they don't have any money and wonder why... Well look what you could have made if you worked like everyone you are preaching to, that politely tell you to go away...
The Big A is not coming. You have been lied to!
i wonder if it's possible for those of us who've been out decades to have alerts or alternatively see a grouping of threads in a folder or something similar if something actually happens of interest in the borg.. i'm not really interested in the day to day stuff about this cult but i would like to know if anything drastically changes as my siblings and their kids are still trapped.
i don't know anything about creating the code for forums so i don't know what is possible but if you don't ask you don't get.
this is not a criticism it's just time for me to move on and just drop in occasionally..
Simon, Would it be possible to have posted somewhere, all the latest WT new word terminology and what it is replacing?
It has always been in my mind that WT is constanting changing up their latest 'cult' words, so that they can trip up supposed apostates. If anyone says "Who is your presiding overseer?" Those are really old words now. Or asks, who is your district overseer? They might not know that there are no longer any district overseers.
I don't know how you would set it up but I think it would be helpful to everyone. And, for any Bethel spies reading on your forum, that will really blow holes in their little boat, that all of us are up to date in their latest JW..org words, and they can't catch us that way any longer.

here's the short article found in the "did you know?
" series found on watchtower documents, and, underneath it, is the unusual comment:.
There was a brother. He died in his 80's. In his home. Alone. Found a few days later.
In his youth, at a district convention, he was one of those youngsters that was admonished to come up front by the stage and get his personal copy of the brand new release of "Children" published by WT.
He and his father and uncle were rich farmers. They donated the land so a KHall could be built in their town. For decades they were the pillars in their area. In the ministry, giving talks, taking each their own car out in their vast territory to pick up older JW's so they could make the meetings or field service, in all types of weather.
By the time this fine old gentleman by anyones standards died, he was all alone except for his worldly brothers daughter and her family. The Society closed down the local Hall and started a new one quite a distance away. His eye sight was poor and so he stayed home and forgotten. All the old-timers, who had been preaching Millions Now Living Will Never die, had all ready died. He was the only witness left in town.
That Childrens book had totally wrecked that man's life. That publishing house, WT, caused so much intentional harm. Don't fall into temptation and get married. If you were burning with desire, and past the age of the bloom of youth, if you do get married, do not have children. That is selfish. You must put the Kingdon first...
He was kind to my family and I am sure wanted to get married, as he looked at my chest when he could steal a glance, but he said when he got that book, he promised god that he would do His will. So he never had a family. Never got married. Died alone and forgotten.
When I had found out a number of months later that our old dear friend had died. I called his niece. Her husband answered. He had had a stroke. They were getting an auction ready to auction off all his personal property and the vast lands he owned. I hadn't the heart to ask if WT was a beneficiary. I hope not.
